Berlin Call to Action signed by over 1,800 people! Help us reach 2018 signatures!
More than 1,800 people and organisations have signed the
Berlin Call to Action “Cultural Heritage for the Future of Europe”. Help us reach 2018 signatures during the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018! Europa Nostra’s President Maestro Plácido Domingo wrote to the Austrian Minister of Culture suggesting that Europa Nostra and its partner the German Cultural Heritage Committee present the total number of signatories at the closing conference of the Year in Vienna on 6-7 December. We will keep you informed.
Apply for the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2019 by 15 November!
Applications for the 2019 edition of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards are still open! Europa Nostra invites all its members to share this announcement with their networks and encourage applications from a wide range of countries. Deadline for receiving applications at our headquarters in The Hague (The Netherlands) is 15 November 2018.

Winners of Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism 2018 Awards announced!
The European Cultural Tourism Network (ECTN) announced the winners of this year’s Destination of Sustainable Cultural Tourism Awards at their international conference in Paphos, Cyprus, on 25 October. Vice-President Piet Jaspaert represented Europa Nostra at the ceremony and the conference. This year’s edition of the Awards was organised in cooperation with Europa Nostra and the European Travel Commission as a contribution to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 and with the support of NECSTouR. Europa Nostra’s Vice-President receives Germany’s highest heritage award at a ceremony in Strasbourg
The Vice-President of Europa Nostra and President of Europa Nostra Deutschland Alexander Fürst zu Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn was honoured with the
German Heritage Conservation and Protection Award 2018, the highest award for cultural heritage achievements in Germany, which is conferred by the Presidency of the German Cultural Heritage Committee (DNK). The awards ceremony took place on 29 October in the Palais du Rhin in Strasbourg. Europa Nostra’s Vice-President received the award in the category Karl-Friedrich-Schinkel-Ring, which had not been conferred for the past four years. In front of a German and European audience, he had the honour of delivering the acceptance speech on behalf of the 12 laureates.
